Reference the request for a waiver/variance of Article Ill, Sec. 9-11, Item (1),(b)
1(see attached) by Mr. H.D. Holsombach, I provide the following information.
Fire Marshal Mike McGibeny has visited the 109 Commerce Way location of Afcom,
Inc. He determined that as stated in Mr. Holsombach's letter, this is a hardware
distribution business and as such is classified as a "Light Hazard" occupancy.
Given the contents and use of this business and that the combined existing and
expansion square footage will not exceed the above referenced Code requirement
by more than ten (10) per cent, both the Fire Marshal and I recommend approval of
the request for a waiver/variance.
Our stipulation would be that the owner and tenant (if not the same) provide the City
of Sanford a letter stating that if there is any further expansion of the facility, or if the
contents and/or use changes, that the building will be retrofitted with an appropriate
automatic fire sprinkler system.
